Why is my Mac slow? Performance, background services and maintenance

A slow Mac is usually one busy app, memory running short, heat, or a pile of background helpers, and each needs a different fix. The System group covers each step:
- Performance shows live CPU and memory, each app's CPU, energy and memory use with a Quit button, battery wear, SSD health and temperature, and says in plain words when something needs attention.
- Background Services lists the launch agents, daemons and Homebrew services on your Mac, shows which are running, and lets you stop or disable the ones you don't want.
