One scan, then one question
Most of what slows a Mac down or fills its disk is spread across a dozen places: caches, old downloads, duplicate copies, startup items, an app hogging memory, a protection that was never turned on. The Overview group brings them together:
- Dashboard & Smart Scan runs one scan for junk, large files, duplicates and the disk map, refreshes the security, privacy and app checks, and shows how much space you could free. A protection checklist shows what is still off, and the cleanup history lets you put back what you removed while it is in the Trash.
- Ask answers questions like "Why is my Mac slow?" with Apple Intelligence, on your Mac, from the numbers the other sections measured, and links each finding to the section that fixes it.
Nothing happens without you
Neither one cleans anything. Smart Scan only reads and reports, and Ask can only explain and point. You review the full list in each section before anything goes, and what you move to the Trash can be put back. Scans run on your Mac, and Ask's answers are generated there too; see the Privacy Policy.
Questions about overview
Only for Ask. Smart Scan and the Dashboard work on any Mac that runs Tidy My Mac. Without Apple Intelligence, Ask shows Performance's rule-based advice instead.
One runs each time the app opens unless you turn that off, and you can schedule one daily or weekly. A scheduled scan only sends a notification with what it found.
